Well, I completed my pirate costume for our upcoming (date TBA) pirate party. It is not, in fact, the Halloween party, which I will miss this weekend when I go up to Fargo to celebrate my grandma's birthday. No, this is purely a pirate party. Details will be given at a later date, but suffice it to say that it will be awesome.
Last night, Mel and I went shopping for our costumes, and I must say that I am quite stoked about mine. I got a shirt on clearance on a previous shopping trip at Lany Bryant. Last night, I got a hat with a feather, a collapsable knife (blade goes into the handle), a spy glass, and a ninja sword. I bought an eyepatch when I was out in Seattle, and it has a metallic skull and crossbones on it. I bought fake pirate gross teeth awhile back for a buck at Target. Then we went to Old Navy, and I got a silk vest-like shirt thing to go over my other shirt, and it looks very piratey indeed. Plus, it only cost me $4. Then I went home and raided my drawers. I have this pair of ankle draw string capris that I am going to wear with black nylons and my great big black boots.
I'm also going to see if my mom has any lacey black ribbon, and I'll make a belt out of that and tie everything to it. It's quite exciting. I got lacey black gloves, too, but I think those will be part of next years costume. I('m going as a vampire. I call it.)
And what pirate would be complete without a flask of rum? Not this one. I've got one of those two. :)
So, I will be very piratey this year, even if it isn't exactly on Halloween. What's everybody else going as?
Posted by LoWriter at October 24, 2006 09:12 AMdamn you're good! :o) my sister is gonna be a pirate this year for halloween. only, she's going as slutty pirate. i was about to object to the objectification (because dirty pirates are so much more fun than slutty ones), but then i found out the party she's going to will include costumes such as slutty nurse, slutty cop, slutty cat, onward and so forth... why is it that when creativity lacks, you only have to stick "slutty" in front of your costume name and make sure to show some skin?
me? i'm always doing something wierd or raunchy. while sis was dressed in cute cuddly handmade puppy dog costumes, i grabbed dad's old work clothes, ratted my hair and pulled out my mad makeup skills to create a zombie face for myself. scary. two years ago i was preggo white trash.
so the question is: what should i be this year?? what is everyone else doing? Lo, your thorough description of said costume is making my wheels turn!

Well i have to admit I am in a quandry. I don't have a good costume. I was going to go as a 60s secretary to work, but I don't think the orange and green plaid skirt will fit anymore.

and yeah, that was the last time i dressed up for halloween. last year i think becky was still at my apartment, and we toasted the holiday together. i think. or maybe it was with betsy? i dont usually remember halloweens.

On the plus side, I have candy at my house now. Hopefully there will still be some left for the kiddos on Halloween.
