For those of you who missed it this afternoon, the Vikings won. Big time. Now I, along with most I talked to, expected the Vikings to get their asses handed to them. But that is not what happened, oh no!
The highlight of the game, for me, was when Taylor ran 95 yards for a touchdown, which, according to the TV, was the longest offensive play in Vikings' history. It was fantastic. I watched it with Danika and Lindsey, and we agreed that our other favorite play was when the Vikes got a touchdown by merely grabbing the ball when the Seahawks fumbled it in the end zone.
Now, I'm not trying to rub it in, as I know at least one Seahawks fan reads this (sorry 10), but I am very excited because I didn't think they could do it.
I don't know if you all have been paying attention, but up until today, the Vikings track record for scoring touchdowns was as follows: Offense=4, defense=3, special teams=1. Yes, that's right. Our defense had scored almost as may points as our offense up until today. In addition, as I heard on the TV today, the Vikes have averaged 8.6 penalties a game.
Plus, I don't know if you've noticed or not, but up until today, Johnson has been throwing passes for, like, six yards every time. Today, he actually threw for a few more yards.
Lindsey made delicious bar-b-que sandwhiches for supper (with cheese), and those were lovely, too. We also enjoyed Oktoberfest Goose Island beer (possibly one of my all-time favorite beers now that I've tasted it) and cherry wine from the Goose Lake Farm Winery.
So, all in all, it was a quite fantastic day. I got to indulge my tom-boy side in a little Vikings victory, and then I watched a little Extreme Home Makeover. It was all excellent.
Posted by LoWriter at October 22, 2006 10:25 PMNot that I can defend my poor losing Seahawks, but Hasselbeck got hurt (sniff) around half time. I blame him. That's when they really started nailing us to the ground. And after last week was such a good game!
Well, I hope you enjoy your win and that we win again next week (not against the vikings of course)! Now we are 4 wins - 2 loses, bummer. We can still pull it out though, we just need to buckle down!
Posted by: 10lees at October 23, 2006 10:39 AMwhat's cooler? DA BEARS. yes, the '86 bears have been reincarnated. look out. ;o) actually, i'm not much of a football fan, but the bears win last monday was so... bizzare, that i have to pay attention now.
also, one bad thing about Goose Island: about 4 months ago, they sold the locally (chicago) owned brewery to MILLER. sucktastic. i know a lot of places here that decided to boycott. it's sad, really, b/c i loved Honkers Ale. i hope they dont change the recipe!!!
Posted by: dr gonzo at October 23, 2006 11:35 AMYeah, we were ahead when he got injured, so I don't think you can blame Hasselbeck for everything although it was pretty close until he was out. ;) Danika was quite disappointed about that, though because he was her fantasy football QB for the day. Our record is also 4 wins, 2 losses, which is surprising to me, given the fact that up until yesterday, our defense had scored almost as many touchdowns as our offense.
Dr. G-- That is incredibly sucktastic. I can't believe Miller bought one of my all-time favorite beer brands. Everything Miller touches turns to gross. Boooo.
Posted by: Lo at October 23, 2006 02:33 PM10-- I stand corrected. You can blame your QB's injury. He went out while we were tied. I am very sorry for my error.
Posted by: Lo at October 23, 2006 03:06 PMSo you can still pull through too go to the Superbowl too with your 4-2 win. Maybe we can just hope that one of our teams, Seahawks, Vikings, or Bears is there. That'd be nice. Course I'd prefer the first, but you can prefer whichever you wish!!
Posted by: 10lees at October 23, 2006 03:16 PMThe predictions I've heard put the Bears in the Superbowl. They're pretty amazingly good this year. I was impressed that the Vikes even kept it close.
