I would like to take this moment to celebrate the fact that March is three paycheck month for me. This means that I can pay my tuition and still have money left to do with as I will. I like that. I like that a lot.
As discussed before, I realize that I do not, in fact, get free money during three paycheck month. On the other hand, I have more money to spend on the same amount of bills in regular two paycheck months. In fact, Feb.'s bills are usually smaller because it has fewer days.
I have had to tighten my proverbial budget belt over the last few months, but I've been doing much better as of late, cutting my credit card spending by about a fourth last month and by even more this month (minus tuition, of course) (which probably doesn't count because Feb. is shorter). I have not yet decided what to spend the extra on, but rest assured, it will rock. I'm leaning towards a better MP3 player at this time. Maybe Egyptian cotton sheets with a modest thread count. They're on sale for $30 a set at Overstock. Maybe onion rings. I don't know. The possibilities are endless, really.
So hooray for three paycheck month for shooting me some extra moola! Anybody else have three paycheck month this month? Big plans for the dollars? Feel free to celebrate with me in the comments.

I get paid on the 3rd, 17th & 31st. I can't really spend any extra money from the 31st paycheck because I wont get paid next until the 14th of September. That means the 31st paycheck has to pay the early September bills. I suppose it could leave me with a little extra money, but I made a deal with the devil, so I could pay my house off sooner. I pay half my mortgage every 2 weeks. So every year I make 13 full payments, one of which is all principal. I will pay my 15 year mortgage off in about 12 years or so.

I will join you in celebrating 3 paycheck month. I used to think, like ben, that the third paycheck didn't make a difference, and that's because, for me, usually the first one is the 'free' one. I suggest the onion rings, or some cheese sticks, but don't share with anyone who doesn't understand the joy of three paycheck month.

I DO get what the fuss is about, cause, in the above example, the middle paycheck becomes the bonus check. Sure use, the first paycheck for the current months bills, the last paycheck for the next, but you STILL have a third (bonus!) paycheck to have fun with. :)
I support all of your ideas for what to spend the extra $$ on . . . but may i offer an additional suggestion??

Posted by: mel at March 4, 2007 09:40 PMmine is in may, but i HATE it. why you ask? b/c until january of this year, i was on a 24 paycheck/year shedule, and that's what my budget was based off of. now that they forced me to switch to the 26 paycheck/year schedule, i get $200 less per month to budget with. now that sucks a nasty arse.
ok, so to further explain, yes, i will get a bonus paycheck, but really, its not worth it b/c in the meantime, i'm paying a slender amount to my credit card and accruing a nice interest payment that wouldnt be there otherwise. so my "bonus" check goes straight to the credit card. perhaps i'll get my hair cut w/ a bit of it, but really, this blows. i'm bitter, can you tell?

This month is not three paycheck month for me, but it is another fun enough month with is the ever popular but every lessing tax return month.
